Our history
Bayl Plan Services began in the mid 1960's when Charles J. Bayl (a.k.a Dad) brought along with him his background in structural drafting, a thorough understanding of construction and a passion for design.
Charles’ dream was that Bayl Plan Service, which later became Bayl Building Designers in the 1990's, would be where his children came to work alongside him as well, you know the old Ford and Sons, and Sons scenario. He had a desire to teach us well, bringing along his eldest son to almost every site meeting that involved a second set of hands to hold the measuring tape.
Charles joined the Building Designers Association of NSW in the 1990's and became an accredited Building Designer and continued to provide Cowra and many other communities with his architectural planning services and design until his passing in 2015.
His vision was to make this service as practical as possible to his clients, educating them in the building process along the way and making their needs the requirement along the way. We, his children, wish to honour the standard that Dad left and want even more to further the design process by helping our community value their places of being, their surroundings, their buildings, their homes.

A building says a lot. It tells us how you feel about yourself and how you feel about others. It’s a reflection of how we view the world. We truly love the work we do, because we love people and we love the environment we can choose to exist in. We all deserve to exist in a shape that respects the feelings and needs of our fellow humans.

Some of my earliest memories are of drawing with Dad's old ink pens in his office, so it was inevitable really that I followed this path. Regardless I consider myself blessed to really love the work we do and have a father who could pass on to me his knowledge & wisdom.
I love a sense of local community and the benefits that brings to our lives. I strive to respect those in our community and be respected back. We enjoyed working alongside the builders that Dad first formed a working relationship with back in NSW even though we have moved away from that area.
Being a part of Adelaide is a buzz, it has so much to offer and we really love the builders we are working along with. We truly appreciate our clients in NSW who have stayed loyal. We are still finding clients from my hometown of Cowra and the greater Sydney region.
As I’ve gotten older my core values have changed when it comes to our work. We love clients whose values align with our own - bettering our native lands, building for living, and exploring new products and ideas. I love to create and look forward to connecting with you and sharing our values & ideas.

I began my working life with a tool-belt on and dusty boots alongside my father building decks and luxury outdoor areas in Canberra. Fast forward to today and I consider myself lucky to now work alongside my very creative husband Paul, who inspired me to start drafting after 10 years in the construction industry in 2012.
Thanks to our Dads, we have experience in and out of the office, so we will only design what is possible to build.
Wherever Paul and I go, we look at buildings, their designs, quirks and character. We strive to constantly be inspired, learning, growing.
I love looking at new materials and finding inspiration in the world around us which we document via our pinterest page.
We always love to meet new clients and help to make the process of designing your new home or project as smooth as possible. I hope to enjoy a coffee with you soon.
